Cross-language Information Access

Student will identify a topic of interest in in Cross-Language Information Access (CLIA). He or she will conduct literature review to understand basic concepts, history, challenges, and existing  technologies or solutions on the identified topic. Student may participate in Dr. Chen's related research project(s) on CLIA and collaborate with other project members to develop CLIA technologies, or conduct evaluation of CLIA systems or services where appropriate.

Possible areas of interest in CLIA:

(1) Machine learning or natural language processing tools for CLIA;

(2) Web knowledge source mining for CLIA;

(3) CLIA models;

(4) User studies for CLIA;

(5) CLIA as a service for information systems, or digital libraries.
