Authors @ Your Library Web Database System

The Association of American Publishers (AAP) and American Library Association (ALA) joint committee envision a web-based, interactive database system to connect publicists and authors with libraries. The website application will provide information access for mainly two types of users: librarians and publicists. The librarians, particularly programming directors at libraries, will use the system to locate authors or publicists for author events. The publicists at book publishing houses will employ the database to find libraries to host their authors. The system will serve as the premiere matching making service for authors and libraries.

The Texas Center for Digital Knowledge (TxCDK) ( http://www.txcdk.org) at the University of North Texas is developing such a web-based interactive database system. The TxCDK project team consists of Dr. Jiangping Chen and Dr. William E. Moen who will provide supervision for two graduate student programmers and designers.
